Do Goodies is a social enterprise operated by Opportunity Enterprises, a nonprofit organization in Valparaiso, Indiana, whose mission is to create inclusive and equitable opportunities for people of all abilities. Since opening in 2007 under the name “Simply Amazing Market,” our employees have hand-crafted fudge, popcorn, glazed treats, and gift baskets. Do Goodies hires men and women of all abilities because we know that when given the opportunity, every employee brings a unique set of skills and talents to our team. Nationally, about 1 in 5 people with a disability are employed. We’re changing that. With more than half our staff having a documented disability, we’re aiming to build communities where people are included and celebrated for their different skills. Every purchase from Do Goodies brings us closer to achieving this goal.

The Arc of Greater Boone County

The Arc of Greater Boone County acquired Mr. Canary Company from its founder in October of 2023 and has since evolved the business from a model of sheltered work to a competitive workplace that rewards high productivity from its employees with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Mr. Canary makes 2 distinct bird feeding products which are distributed across the country and found in major retailers. MME also partners with KCARC in the production of the nylon mesh bags used in our sock feeders, meaning that each component of our bird feeders is manufactured in the US!
Additionally, The Arc of Greater Boone County is continuing its work with its Arc Artisans with one of a kind artwork made by those we support.
Several persons supported by The Arc of Greater Boone County have launched their own businesses, which include:
Becky’s Fired Jewelry where she makes fused glass pendants, earrings and other glass jewelry
Peace Out with Melissa where she makes heat pressed tee shirts, tote bags and more. Melissa can also do custom designs!
Jackson Tie Dye where Lexie makes custom dyed clothing including tee shirts, dresses and can also custom dye orders
CD’s Photography where Carlie sells photographs and cards from her nature and local wanderings
